Ethanol

Ethanol is produced by processing corn and/or other biomass. Historically, ethanol has been utilized primarily as an "oxygenate" or an additive to gasoline to increase the oxygen level in fuel so the gasoline burns more cleanly. However, ethanol can also be used as a primary fuel that can be purchased at many gasoline stations throughout the U.S. as E-85. E-85 is 85% ethanol and 15% unleaded gasoline.
